case Ishrat Jahan,SIT gets a new chief - JV Ramudu-The Special Investigation Team probing the Ishrat Jahan encounter case has got a new chief- AP cadre IPS officer JV Ramudu.
Maharashtra police officer Satyapal Singh has been relieved by the high court after the Centre expressed its wish to remove him for his reluctance to participate in the probe.

An inquiry by the judicial magistrate had dubbed the encounter of four persons including Ishrat Jahan as fake.
The SIT new chief's appointment comes a week after Pakistani-American terrorist David Headley's claim that Ishrat Jahan, the Mumbai college girl who was killed along with three alleged terrorists in 2004 in an Ahmedabad police encounter, was indeed a Lashkar-e-Taiba fidayeen.

The TOI report on Ishrat Jahan's Lashkar-e-Taiba links stirred a fresh controversy, with the slain 19-year-old Mumbra girl's mother seeking a clarification from Union home minister P Chidambaram on the issue.Ishrat's mother,Shamima Kausar (51), without going into the details of the LeT charge, reiterated that her daughter was killed in cold blood in a staged gunbattle by the Gujarat Police in 2004. Gujarat police had claimed that Ishrat along with three others were LeT operatives out to kill chief minister Narendra Modi.
